ARES Adopt-a-School Program Overview

Adopting a school will enable us to outfit an entire school with up to 400 students with an ARES Education server system, notebooks, projectors, networking gear, and ongoing support. This is a highly leveraged means to provide a critical level of support to children in elementary and secondary schools that might never have a chance to graduate and secure a meaningful career for themselves and their families. The school administration and students will receive a customized plaque in recognition with your name, and you will receive a video of the ceremony, photos of school ARES system setup, and ongoing updates on the school's progress.

It's a powerful, affordable way to make a lasting difference in the lives of an entire school of current and future students in rural Kenya, supported by an established program with 8 years’ experience and over 80 schools enrolled. We offer multiple options to tailor the donation to fit your capabilities and interests.

You’ll receive direct and regular feedback regarding the impact your donation is having, and the future needs of the school and students.

Rotary District and Rotary International grant templates available.

Here's the situation

Schools in rural lack Kenya the resources and tools required to provide a quality education for their students. As a result, students there are left behind and are mostly unable to compete in the national and international job markets.

The benefits of digital literacy have been widely recognized around the world. Unfortunately, most schools in rural Kenya do not have resources to provide internet access, computers, or digital literacy training, resulting in an enormous ‘digital education gap’ between rural Kenyan students and their peers in urban Kenya, and worldwide.

The need:

Digital education tools, quality educational content, ongoing support assistance in digital teaching methodology, and technical support.

What we provide:

Education server designed to work in Kenyan environment (battery based, integrated cooling, solid state storage, low energy usage, etc.), a mesh wireless network to connect the entire school campus, at least one portable projector, at least 20 resilient notebooks. Most important – lots of local, hands-on support (for at least the first year)!

Our success to date:

We have been working across Kenya for 8+ years. We have over 80 schools installed now with lots of demand from new schools. We have real data to demonstrate that ARES has made a significant difference at the schools that have ARES that we will happily share with you.
